CHEVRON PASCAGOULA REFINERY, MISSISSIPPI GULF RESORT CLASSIC PARTNER FOR EXCEL BY 5
BILOXI, Miss. – As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to early childhood education, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery, in partnership with the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic (MGRC), has made a $25,000 contribution to Excel By 5 to support programs in five Excel By 5 communities along the Gulf Coast. “Through local partnerships, like those with MGRC and Excel By 5, Chevron supports the education and leadership development of children of all ages,” said Alan Sudduth, Chevron Public and Government Affairs Manager for Mississippi.
Chevron committed the funds during the MGRC tournament in March, and participated in the formal check presentation on May 6. The presentation included Ed Day, MGRC Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mississippi Power President and CEO; Bob Clay, Executive Director of Excel By 5; Patti Fleming, Excel By 5 Regional Sites Coordinator; Steve Nieman, MGRC Tournament Director; and Sudduth.

JACKSON, Miss – Mississippi First Lady Marsha Barbour today joined early childhood development experts and ChevronTexaco representatives to launch Excel by Five, a community-based educational program designed to improve a child’s overall well-being by age five. Funded with a $650,000 grant from ChevronTexaco, the program will be piloted in Cleveland, West Point, Petal and Pascagoula.
Petal Becomes First Excel By 5 Community
Starkville, Mississippi – Petal, Mississippi will officially become the first certified Excel by 5 community in the state on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the community’s celebration. As one of four pilot sites, Petal will be recognized for its work to meet the required criteria to achieve certification as a “child-friendly” community.
