“We are proud to support the local nonprofits that serve the Mississippi Gulf Coast area,” said Ed Day, MGRC Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mississippi Power President and CEO. “Partnering with organizations like Chevron and Excel by 5 continues to illustrate the importance of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic in our community.”

Five Excel By 5 candidate and certified programs along the Mississippi Coast will receive $5,000 each, including Biloxi, Gulfport, Hancock County, Moss Point and Pascagoula. The community programs can use the funds for a variety of purposes such as purchasing materials for their resource centers or providing early childhood parent trainings.

“Community support is and will always be a key component to supporting the efforts of Excel By 5 community coalitions as they lay the groundwork to ensure children ages 0-5 and their families are better prepared to enter school,” commented Bob Clay, Excel By 5 Executive Director.
