Pre-K tax credit to be topic at Chamber meet

Republican State Sen. Brice Wiggins of Pascagoula will talk about the Mississippi pre-K tax credit at the upcoming Petal Chamber of Commerce meeting. The event will be held at noon Nov. 12 at the Petal Civic Center, located at 712A Main St. The Early Learning Collaborative Act of 2013, which Wiggins introduced, expanded state-funded pre-K programs at 11 pilot sites throughout the state.  While the Early Learning Collaborative Act provides grant funds to pre-K  programs, it also features a provision for Mississippi taxpayers.  Individuals and businesses can receive a credit on their state taxes, allowing them to pay money owed to the state to the Petal Early Learning Collaborative – or to any of the other 10 sites.
