Gulfport Hosts Back to School Health/Wellness Fair

The Back to School Health/Wellness Fair held on Saturday at Jones Park in Gulfport proved Ben Franklin's old adage, "An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."

Cynthia Walker Receives GIVE Award

Volunteer Mississippi, in coordination with the Office of the Governor and First Lady Deborah Bryant, Honorary Chair of the Volunteer Mississippi Board of Commissioners, recently announced the 2014 Governor’s Initiative for Volunteer Excellence (GIVE) Award honorees. Awards were presented to outstanding volunteer recipients at a special luncheon ceremony on April 14, 2014 at the Mississippi Museum of Art. Among the honorees was Cynthia Minton Walker.

"SURGE" Donates to Gulfport Excel By 5

Members of the Mississippi Surge hockey team recently held a book drive to benefit the Gulfport Excel By 5 initiative.  Collected books were donated to the coalition to be distributed to area children.  Shown in the photo with Surge players are Cindy Walker, certification manager, and Lisa Bradley, steering committee chairperson.
